Fuselage construction.

7-Jan-98: There was a bad twist in the quick-build fuselage as delivered. The best advice received was to remove the aft deck & replace after straightening. This shows the new aft deck piece cleko’d in place. At last, the fuselage is straight!

22-Mar-98: Top fuselage skins cleko’d in place.

23-May-98: Tom ready to buck rivets for the top skin. An uncomfortable position for work that took several hours.

26-Nov-98: The right step, cleko'd in place. The steel flange required some bending to match the fuselage contours.

26-Nov-98: One of the Naca vents, RTV'd & cleko'd. The standard Van's vent kit, including plastic eyeball vents, was used.

9-Jan-99: Painted the interior with Valspar gray enamel. Not as durable as an epoxy, but easier to touch up.

30-Sep-99: Van's issued a service bulletin requiring reinforcement for the rudder pedal assembly. Eric Andersen, EAA Chapter 18 President, kindly did the welding. The assembly was not easy to remove & refit!

2-Jan-00: Outside Air Temperature sensor in right NACA vent, foam insulated inside to reduce heat transfer fom the cabin.

15-Jan-00: Riveting the forward top skin - last major riveting job! Now everything behind the firewall becomes much harder to deal with, but at least the windshield glassing job can proceed.

29-Apr-00: Area under the baggage floor before pop-riveting the floor.

30-Apr-00: Area under the right seat floor befor pop-riveting the floor.

30-Apr-00: Area under the left seat floor befor pop-riveting the floor.
